Backup Films in competition for 2011 Cesar Awards with 5 Films



Backup Films is proud to announce the nominations for the 2011 Cesar Awards of five films it has supported or distributed.

On Tour, The Tree and Bus Palladium, three films produced in association with COFICUP, have received numerous nominations.

On Tour has been nominated for Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Mathieu Amalric’s film counts a total of 7 nominations and is thus one of this year’s favourites. Produced by Les Films du Poisson, On Tour already took the Best Director Award in Cannes.

Julie Bertuccelli’s The Tree is also in the competition with two nominations for Best Actress (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and Best Adapted Screenplay. The Tree is also produced by Les Films du Poisson and was screened at 2010 Cannes Closing Night spot.

Bus Palladium, directed by Christopher Thompson and produced by LGM Production, was nominated for Best Male Newcomer for Arthur Dupont’s performance, as well as Best Original Soundtrack.

Amoung the films distributed by Districup in Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands, Gainsbourg and Little White Lies count several nominations.

Gainsbourg was nominated for Best First Film, Best Film, Best Actor (Éric Elmosnino) and Best Supporting Actress (Laetitia Casta). With 8 nominations, Joann Sfar’s movie, produced by Xilam and Studio 37, is the second most nominated film of the ceremony.

As for Guillaume Canet’s Little White Lies, already acclaimed by the French audience,it is nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Gilles Lellouche) and Best Supporting Actress (Valérie Bonneton). Little White Lies, produced by Les Productions du Trésor and Europacorp Distribution, generated more than 5 million admissions in France.

The final results of the competition will be revealed in a ceremony in Paris on February 25th.
